Aircraft Certification (AIR)
SIZE OF THE BARGAINING UNIT: 663.
LOCATION: Structured in a "directorate" system, there are
offices located nationwide, in the regional offices, and and in Brussels,
Belgium. Also, there is the AIR-140 NATCA Bargaining Unit located in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, that supports NATCA Aircraft Certification
administratively and on national policy."
THEY ARE: This group is comprised of aerospace engineers,
senior engineers, flight test pilots, administrative officers, aircraft
certification assistants and technical support personnel.
STATUS: NATCA won the election on Sept. 1, 2000 with 75
percent of the vote. The FLRA issued its Certification of Representative
document on Sept. 12, 2000.
INTEREST TO NATCA: These employees provide important
insight into safety-related FAA activities with respect to aircraft
equipment and performance. They help develop separation standards and
controller-to-pilot data-link communications.
